Agnes Michaelsen Obituary

Agnes K. Michaelsen, age 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 11, 2018. She resided at the Alliance Center for Health Care, DeLand, Florida for the past 5 years.
Agnes accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her late teens, and her desire was to serve Him. She graduated HS in NYC in 1941 and graduated Columbia Bible College with a BA in religious education in 1949. After that she worked in many clerical/administrative positions with entities including Children's Bible Fellowship, Word of Life and on the staff at Columbia Bible College.
In the early 50's she joined her parents who had moved to Daytona Beach, and served with Child Evangelism Fellowship for Volusia County. In 1962 she became Director of CEF Volusia County, where she oversaw the training of teachers for "Good News Clubs" which were held in area schools and in private homes. After retiring from CEF in 1988 she took care of her ill and aging mother till her death at age 99.
One of her favorite Bible promises was Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on to your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." She also loved the hymn "Jesus Loves Me".
Agnes was an accomplished artist with well over a hundred paintings in a variety of mediums. Many of these are proudly displayed in friends' homes and places of worship.
Agnes never married. She outlived 3 brothers and a sister. She is survived by a niece, nephew and the surviving spouse of another nephew.
She was blessed with many good friends, especially, Marion Brown, Margaret Snook and Sharon Wuamett, who visited faithfully during her years in the nursing home.
A memorial service will be held at the Alliance Chapel, 600 S. Florida Ave., DeLand on Thursday, May 17 at 2pm. Memorial gifts should go to the CFC of Volusia County.
