Carol Zender Obituary

Carol D. Zender, 79 of DeLand passed away July 18, 2017 at Florida Hospital DeLand surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Syracuse, New York on November 24, 1937 and came to DeLand in 1963 from Parish, New York. Carol was a former member of the Eastern Star, the Morning Glory Circle of the Garden Club and the Shrine Club Ladies Auxiliary. She loved camping and traveling and listening to blue grass music. Carol enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, reading and playing mah jongg. She enjoyed working in booths for youth league basketball, baseball and football. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James; son Scott James Zender (Virginia) of DeLand; daughters Brenda Jean Griffiths (Terry) of DeLand and Jamie Lynn Mullins (Patrick) of DeLand; 6 grandchildren, Eric (Rebecca Garcia) Mullins, Heather Mullins, Rebecca (David) Ross, Sarah Griffiths, Courtney (Riley) Thompson and Alyssa (Nicholas) Lankford and 8 great-grandchildren Cam'ron Williamson, Kieona Ross, Aubrey Ross, Elijah Mullins, LeLand Mullins, Baylie Thompson, Brody Thompson and Lyric Mullins-Canchon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 11am at Calvary Baptist Church in DeLand. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33622. Online condolences may be made at www.allensummerhill.com.
