Jacque "Papa Jac" Edward Newton, 78, of Holly Hill, Florida passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on September 25, 2017. He was born in West Middleton, Indiana on December 3, 1938 and moved to Florida in 1983 from Young America, Indiana. Jacque served in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Canisteo and owned Cuneo Cafeteria, and Newton's Furniture Stripping Shop in Kokomo, Indiana. He also worked for Flowers Central for his daughter. He was an outstanding member of the Sierra Club in Indiana and an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he was former head usher for the 8 A.M. Mass, extra ordinary minister of Holy Communion and ministered to the sick. He also was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree. Jacque loved fishing, bowling, playing cards, hunting and refinishing furniture. He was predeceased by his parents Maurice Newton and Nadine (Hooks), brothers; Richard and David Gene Newton. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Rosemary (Hough); daughters Lori Cassaro (Harry Smith) of DeLand, Marcie Newton (Chip Letter) of Orange City and Beth Lucas (Larry) of Holly Hill; sister Janet Eaton (Darrell) of North Fort Myers; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A visitation service will be held on Friday, Oct. 6th from 5:30-6:30 P.M. with a memorial mass at 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. 1014 N. Halifax Ave. Daytona Beach, Florida.
