Naleene W. Varnadoe, 93, of DeLand passed away on July 1st, 2017 at LindenLea Assisted Living Facility. She was born on September 4th, 1923 in Maryland and grew up in West Virginia. She was a sixty year resident of DeLand. Naleene was a member of First Baptist Church of DeLand and her abiding faith supported her throughout her lifetime. She was a dedicated educator, a loving wife and a nurturing mother. Naleene was a retired Volusia County School teacher, having prepared thousands of students for the computer age by teaching them to type. Naleene rarely went anywhere in DeLand without being greeted by someone who fondly remembered her from class. She is survived by her son, David L. Varnadoe, Jr. and wife Susan of Winter Springs and daughter Dawn Marie Wallace and husband Darrell of Walnut Grove, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband David L. Varnadoe, Sr. and daughter Joan Leslie Varnadoe. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7th, at 10am at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand, with Reverend Johnny Long officiating. Visitation will be at 9:30am. Interment will follow the service at DeLand Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at
