Carolyn Minshew Obituary

Carolyn Iona Minshew, 89, of Pierson passed away September 7, 2012. Carolyn was born December 2, 1922 in South Carolina. She is predeceased in death by her husband Byrd Minshew and her son Frankie Minshew, her sister Jane McClain, and her brothers Patrick Young and Lionel Young. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 65 years; she worked at Pierson Elementary School for 35 years and at the Pioneer Art Settlement for 10 years. Her family was her life, she touched many lives with her kindness and compassion. She was known to many as Nanny. Carolyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Carolyn (Wally) Bailey; daughter in-law, Sharon Minshew; grandchildren, Chuck (Shelly) Robinson, Lynn (Debra) Minshew, Anna (Loren) Peele, Wally "Gator" (Leann) Bailey; great-grandchildren, Chris Robinson, Shelby Robinson, Cierra Minshew, Franklyn "Frankie" Minshew, Cienna Peele and Macie Peele and great-great-granddaughter, Briley Robinson. She also had several nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at
10:00 a.m. at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Pierson, FL with Pastor Milburn Franke. A reception will follow at the church. Online condolences may be left at www.allensummerhillfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home DeLand, FL.
