Darnell Jean-Simon Obituary
Darnell Jean- Simon, a longtime resident of Deltona, passed away at Halifax Hospice Care center in Orange City, Florida on 8/3/17.
Darnell was born in Allendale, South Carolina on May 17th, 1933. She was the youngest of 13 children that where born to Robert Owens & Lillian Hagood. Darnell's siblings have all predeceased her except for her sister, Dorothy Brabham.
Darnell finished high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She became a resident in Long Island, where she was employed at the Dayton T. Brown engineering company in 1969. She worked as a buyer in the purchasing department at Dayton T. Brown for 20 years until she retired in 1989. After relocating to Florida with her husband (Caroll Jean-Simon) (deceased), she obtained a license to begin selling insurance and financial products. She worked for Humana where she was a top sales associate for many years and recently did sales for United Health Care.
Darnell was a devout Jehovah's Witness member since the early 1950's. She had always participated in meetings, service and assembly programs.
Darnell Jean-Simon is survived by her daughter Darilynne Saunders, grandchildren (Tracy Saunders and Floyd Saunders), and her sister Dorothy Brabham. She was preceded in death by her grand-daughter, Rhonda Saunders. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and 3 step-children. And also several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Service will be held on Friday 8/25/17 at 2:30 pm.
