Doris Lee Daugharty, 93 years young, of DeLeon Springs left her earthly home on Monday, February 8, 2021. Preceding her in death were her husband Elvin Daugharty and their three children: son David Daugharty and daughters Mary Lee Hall and Jean Daugharty. Doris is survived by her four grandchildren: Sam Daugharty (LuAnn) of DeLeon Springs, Charity Hall of DeLeon Springs, Diana Daugharty Ide (Neil) of Vernon, Alabama and Joy
Hall of Jewell Ridge, VA. She is also survived by her wonderful great-grandchildren: Ethan and Maggie Daugharty, and Freya Ide. Daughter-in-law Linda Daugharty of DeLand and son-in-law Terry Hall of Jewell Ridge, VA.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM prior to the service. Doris was very involved in her community and the Agricultural Industry in which her family supported. In the community, she served as a past matron for the DeLand Chapter 16
Order of the Eastern Star. In the Volusia County Farm Bureau, she served as a past Women's Committee ChairWoman. Doris served on the Board of Directors and helped with the Livestock Auction for the Volusia County Fair Association. Passionate about the cattle industry and beef promotion, Doris was a founding member of the Volusia County Cowbelles, currently known as the Volusia County Cattlewomens Association (VCCW), and was an active member for over forty years. She served by holding the office of President, Vice President, Treasurer, State Director and Alternate State
Director. She was voted "Outstanding Cattlewoman" many times and served on several Florida Cattlewomen (FCW) State committees. Doris could be seen locally in the VCCW concession during rodeos and Cracker Days and in the concession wagon at the Fair. She actively participated in beef promotion and education participating in local in-store demos - as well as all over Florida - working FCW booths at Southern Women's Shows and at the Strawberry Festival. Faith and the Church community was very important to Doris. As a member of the First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs, she sang in the Choir, served a treasurer for her Maranatha Sunday school Class, substitute taught, and loved to Auctioneer for fundraisers such as their "Make it, Bake it, Grow it" charity. She leaves a lasting legacy on the organizations and lives she touched by her presence.
