Douglas Michael Giroux, 68 of Orange City passed away at his residence on August 3, 2019. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on March 16, 1951 and came to Orange City 2 years ago from Lake Villa, IL. Douglas served in the United States Navy from 1969-1974 during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a foreman general for the mechanical department of the Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed staying busy with projects and tinkering. He also enjoyed fishing, cars, pools, barbecuing and sports. More than anything, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrna Jeanne Giroux, sons Douglas R. Giroux (Candy) of Chicago and Christopher S. Giroux (Erin) of Chicago; daughters Shannon L. Giroux of Chicago and Nicole A. Martin (TJ) of Sanford; brother Clint Giroux (Glenda) of North Carolina; sister Lana Book (Bob) of Missouri and 12 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 2pm at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand, with a visitation from 1-2pm prior to the service.
