Ezra Lane Hardy, 89 of DeLand passed away August 16, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Okaloosa County on October 22, 1928 and moved to DeLand in 1984 from Apopka. Ezra retired from the United States Air Force and also retired as the first fire chief for the City of Maitland. Ezra and his wife, Judith were both involved in internet ministry and they were ordained ministers. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was preceded in death by son Robert Hardy. Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years, Judith; son Alvie Hardy (Margie) of Atlanta; daughters Linda Willis (LeLand) of Dandridge, TN and Patricia Pierce (Michael) of Satchee, GA; step-daughter Rebecca Ortiz (Joel) of Madisonville, TN; brother Leo Hardy (Nancy) of Bainbridge, GA; sister Rosette Calhoun of Milton, FL; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 24th from 5-8pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A funeral service will be Saturday, August 25th at 10am at The Lighthouse Church, 1525 South State Road 15-A, DeLand, FL 32720. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Apopka.
