Gartha McGarity Obituary

Gartha Squier McGarity, 93, of Daytona Beach, went home to Jesus on Friday, August 27, 2021, following a short illness.

Gartha was born January 23, 1928 to Garth and Ruth Squier, becoming the first Daytona Beach baby born in the new Halifax Hospital. She married Robert ‘Bob' McGarity in 1950, and together they owned and operated Bob McGarity Advertising, in Daytona Beach, for 55 years, before his death in 2006. Gartha was an avid bridge player, enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, particularly football, but most loved the Florida Gators, watching any sport they played.

She is survived by her four children, Rob McGarity, Daytona Beach, Richard McGarity (Carolyn), DeLand, Kim Conaway (K.C.), DeLeon Springs, and Randy McGarity (Anise), Fort Pierce, six grandchildren, Lane Conaway (Jenna), Sean McGarity, Laura Conaway, Brandon McGarity (KyLlyn), Kailey McGarity and Alyssa Westcott (Luke) and three great-grandchildren, Liberty, Cash and Wilder Conaway.

Funeral Services will be held at Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach, Friday, September 3, 2021, with visitation at 1 p.m. and the funeral service at 2 p.m., arranged by Allen Summerhill of DeLand. If desired, donations may be made to Tomoka Christian Church missions fund.
