Glenda Welden Obituary

Glenda L. Welden, 71 of DeLand Florida passed into the arms of the Lord while at home on Tuesday July 20th, 2021. After a valiant battle with cancer.

Glenda was born to the late Talmadge and Naomi Stubbs in the small town of Claxton, Georgia. Her father was a commercial fishermen and worked on a family boat located in Thunderbolt, Georgia. He moved his family between Claxton and Thunderbolt Ga many times during the fishing season. Glenda loved living on the waterfront as a small child and loved standing on the dock with her mother and watch the fishing boats leave. She also would at times see Dolphin playing in the river. She loved returning to Georgia and took delight in showing the places she grew up. Glenda graduated from Claxton High School and tried to attend as many reunions as she could. She loved to see old friends.

In 1968 Glenda while working in Savannah met the love of her life her husband of 52 years Charles Welden who was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield after returning from Vietnam. It was love at first sight and they married in 1969. After Charles discharge from the Army they moved to South Florida Where they both worked in the field of Law Enforcement. Her with the City of Sunrise Police Department and him with the Miami Dade Police Department. They had two wonderful daughters and they became Glenda's love of life. After many wonderful years they both retired in 2013. They then moved to the lovely City of DeLand, Florida. Glenda's life continued to revolve around her family and home.

Glenda was an avid cook especially during the holidays. She loved her role as Grandma and loved spoiling her grand children. She kept a beautiful home and took great pride in it. She wanted a place her children, grandchildren and family members could come and be together to have a good time.
Glenda is survived by her husband Charles B. Welden; two daughters Christie L. DeGrace of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla , and Jennifer Johnson of DeLand, Fla. Two grandchildren Kaitlynn DeGrace and Jason DeGrace. She leaves a younger sister Donna Drotar of Ocala, Fla and a younger brother Glenn Stubbs of Savannah, Ga.

We are truly heartbroken of her passing but take joy in knowing she is in God's house. We will greatly miss the one who unconditionally loved us and look forward to seeing her and saying how we missed you.
