Gwyndelon R. Sanz, of DeLand, died Sunday, December 23rd, 2018 at The Cloisters. She was 102. Gwyn was born in Arcadia, Florida on January 5, 1916, a fourth-generation Florida native. She was the only child of the late Minor Rodgers and Ira Oxtoby of Miami. She graduated from
Miami High School in 1932 and worked for the Florida State Employment Service until she retired. She enjoyed square dancing, was an avid exerciser and reader, loved to travel, and was a volunteer for many years at the Cloisters library. She was married for 69 years to Leandro P.
Sanz who died in 2004. Gwyn was a devoted mother to her two sons, Donald Sanz (Anita) and Daniel Sanz (Karen); grandmother to Erica, Josha (Robin), and Hayley; great-grandmother to Emma, Riley, and Aidan. She loved and was loved by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Cloisters, especially the 2nd floor staff, and Kindred Hospice for their
thoughtful and consistent care. A memorial service to be held at The Cloisters will be announced at a later date.
