Maria Stella Tumminello

Maria Stella Tumminello, from DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, at 11:24 p.m., on 16 July, 2021, at the age of 92.

She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony "Tony" of almost 60 years. They were married in Reading, Pennsylvania, on 6 January, 1962, after being introduced to each other in the fall of 1961.

In addition to her husband, Maria is lovingly remembered by her sons, Lawrence, Joseph (wife Sharon) and Santo "Sam" (wife Cindi); her grandchildren Shane, Elena and Rosaria; her great grandson Noah; her four brothers and younger sister Emilia in Italy; her husband's four brothers and wives, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends across many states, countries and continents including Australia.

Maria was born to Pasquale and Elena Fazio, in Nardodipace (now Nardodipace Vecchio), in the province of Vibo Valentia, region Calabria , Italy, during the late hours of Christmas Eve, in 1928. She was given the middle name "Stella", a reference to the star of Bethlehem in the nativity of Jesus.

Maria enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings, sewing, crocheting (especially foot booties) and gardening.

The visitation will be held at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, 126 E New York Avenue, DeLand, on Thursday, 22 July, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 359 W. New York Avenue, DeLand, Florida, on Friday, 23 July, 2021, at 10:30 a.m.
