Markalee Blackwelder, 84 of DeLeon Springs passed away May 11, 2019 at the Alliance Center in DeLand. He was born on June 4, 1934 and was a lifetime resident of DeLon Springs. Markalee graduated from DeLand High School in 1953 and was a farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs, a life member of the DeLand Elks Club # 1463, the West Volusia Cattlemen's Association and the Central Florida Fox Hunters Association. Markalee loved farming, fishing, hunting and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma; sons Larry (Julia) Blackwelder, Jimmy Blackwelder, David Blackwelder and Duane Blackwelder; daughter Raye (Greg) Gamble; sister Marion Martin; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16th from 6-8pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 17th at 11am at First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs, with burial to follow at Lake Dias Cemetery in DeLEon Springs.
