Modelle Bancroft Varner of Deltona, Fl passed away June 30, 2018 at the age of 91, surrounded by family in Bagdad, Florida. Born in Paducah, Kentucky, December 21, 1926, her father and mother were Thomas and Lena-Frances(McKnabb) Miller. In her earlier years she was the owner/operator of a fast food drive-in restaurant in Michigan called "Moe's". Upon moving to Deltona in 1974, she received her beautician training and license working at first for another shop but soon becoming an owner/operator of her own shop for 27 years in DeLand, Florida at College Arms Towers.
She is survived by, a sister, Clodine Daugherty of Bagdad, Fl., a son, David Baker of California, 3 Grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great-grandchild, 9 Nephews, 3 Nieces and many great and great-great Nephews and Nieces that loved and knew her for her sense of humor and fun times together.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years Loraine Bancroft in 1987 and her late husband Garnett Varner in 2015, her Mother and father, one son Jerry Don, 4 sisters Lucille and Margaret who died in infancy, Armona Wilson of Kentucky, Aretta Collins of Chicago, 2 brothers, Calvin Miller of Orlando and Don Miller of Michigan and 1 niece.
Services will be at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in Orange City, Fl on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 with Friends and Family Visitation at 11 a.m., Services at Noon with Rev. Mark Siers of Volusia County Baptist Church ministering words of comfort to friends and family. Her nephews John Daugherty, James Daugherty, Randy Daugherty and Michael Johnson as Pallbearers along with friends Ron Rightmyer and Louis Sutton.
