Shirley Ione Barve Eiflander

Shirley Ione Barve Eiflander, 79 of DeLand, passed away October 9, 2016 at Florida Hospital DeLand. She was the daughter of Vernon Barve, Sr. and Raymona (Tiny) Woodward Barve. She is survived by her brother Vernon Barve, Jr; four children, Sharee Childers, George Traver, III, Angelic Oldaker and Kiersten Ferrari. Also six grandchildren, Heath Childers, Crissy Wheat, Ryan Peters, Neisha Potter, Daniel Marion and Shawn Traver; nine great-grandchildren R.J. Hays, Devin Childers, Szaden, Benaiah, Mykena, Uriah "Tuff" Potter, Cameron, Samatha and Lucas Wheat and great-great-grandchild Adrian Michael Childers.
Shirley was an entrepreneur. With only a 10th grade education she persevered. She was a majorette, cheerleader and first clarinet. In the early years she had Rio Vista Dance Studio, where she taught tap and ballet in Level Park and Athens, Michigan.
Shirley moved her 4 children to Florida in 1971. There she bred and showed Doberman Pinchers. Daughter Kiersten was the handler and showed other breeds as well. In 1980 she obtained a Florida Real Estate License and in 1987 became the owner and real estate broker of Makeda Corp for 21 years. She also owned Buffy & Jody's Children's clothing store and Crisney Dolls & Accessories.
In 2006 she became a Bob Ross Certified Instructor of Wild Life. As a volunteer member of the SPCA, she retained the rabies certifications to help find lost dogs and cats. In 2012, she was a lung cancer survivor after undergoing 1 ½ years of treatment.
As a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, she became the manager of the church gift shop, one of the managers of Knots of Love Ministries and volunteered at the front desk in the church office. She was past-president of St. Peter Catholic Women's Ministry. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 10am at St. Peter Catholic Church.
