Stephen Germany Obituary

Stephen Edward Germany, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday morning, July 7th, 2017 in DeLand, Florida with his wife Meriam by his side. Known to all as ED, his children as DAD, and Grandpa Germany to his grandchildren. He was born at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina on May 31, 1952 to Charles Otis Germany and Mary Elizabeth Sprinkle. He graduated high school in 1969. During his teenage years, he was proud to say that he was a great Chess player. He would frequently recount stories with his family of his days playing chess not only in school, but on the streets. At 15, he started working with his father at their gasoline station as a "gas boy". After high school, he received an AA degree as a cabinet maker and started his cabinet making business in his early 20's in Lake Helen, Fl. Later on, he returned to school to get his General Contractor's License. Ed owned and operated his construction company called Germany Construction, Inc. with the assistance of his wife, Meriam. He traveled around the United States, Canada and Mexico (on his Harley Davidson bike) in his earlier years. His favorite subjects were Math and History. His favorite state was MONTANA. His favorite color was CLEAR WITH SPARKLES. According to Charles, Ed wants to know who really killed John F. Kennedy.
Ed and Meriam celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in April 10, 2017. Ed was a role-model for his children in the love and care he displayed for his wife, Meriam. He was her true partner in life and love until his final day on earth. He was Charles's best friend.
His great loves, other than his wife Meriam and family, were fishing and motorcycling. Many local fishing trips were planned with long-time best friends and his sons. He was a member and an officer served as a Sergeant at Arms of a Bikers Club of Volusia County. He was an active member of a non-profit organization called Filipino-American Association of Volusia County, Inc.(FAAVCO).
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Charles Otis Germany. In addition to his wife Meriam, he is survived by his mother Mary Elizabeth Sprinkle, his children Steve, Mallory & Charles Germany, Andrew Millwater, Kim Harrison, Stephanie Hoenig, Bailey Walker and Morgan Walker. Daughter-in-law Kim Germany, his grandchildren Wyatt, Riley, Camden, Troy, Todd, Brianna, Brisen and Cainen. Along with an extended loving family and friends as well as his FAAVCO Family.
