Anna Hanke Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share that Anna Elizabeth McCormick Hanke passed onto her next adventure in heaven as of March 17th, 2023. Anna was born on November 29th, 1952, to Marjorie and Grover McCormick in Deland, FL. Anna was a flower child in her youth and loved living in the Deland community. She spent some time in the U.S. Air Force, before rejoining civilian life to raise her son and then shortly after her daughter. Anna was a strong, beautiful, loving soul whose smile was contagious. Her positive outlook on life carried her through some untimely circumstances and her family hopes that you can carry some of that positivity with you as you move through your life. Her adventures in life took her all over the world, but her home was always here in Volusia County. Her intelligence allowed her to excel in her work, and she would never shy away from talking about her time building Army simulation trainers. In her retirement, Anna loved spending time with for her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world and she loved them deeply.

Survivors include her son Timothy Ryan Hanke; her daughter Jennifer Louise Hanke; her granddaughter’s Ana B-Hanke and Elizabeth Littler; and her grandson Noble Ryan Hanke. Also surviving her is her brother and sister-in-law, Soren Alexander and Dianne McCormick; brother and sister-in-law, Charles William and Kay McCormick; brother and sister-in-law, Mark David and Donna McCormick; sister-in-law, Cindy West; sisters-in-love Deborah Nutting and Elaine Miller.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and grandnephews; with over fifty first cousins and a myriad group of friends collected across the years.

She is preceded in death by her nephew, Michael Huck Jr, her sister Sue Eleanor Huck and her brother Clyde Grover McCormick, her father and mother, Grover Cleveland and Marjorie Eleanor McCormick; and her grandparents, Clyde and Anna Louise Daugharty, Alexander Smith and Mary Annie (Henderson) McCormick.

Arrangements to celebrate the life of Anna Hanke are forthcoming and will be posted online once finalized to allow everyone for time to travel.
