David Fredrick Gibbons, age 87, beloved father, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26th 2022, at AdventHealth Hospital of Deland, FL. He is survived by; two daughters: Marguerite (Roy) Brazeau of Jacksonville, FL, Elaine Gibbons of Orlando, FL; and grandson Roy C Brazeau of North Lauderdale, FL . He was born in Evergreen Park, IL on April 20, 1934 to the late David John Gibbons & Marie Lenore Gibbons nee Schmidt. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margie Ruth Gibbons nee West, his sister Marijean Kappes and grandson Michael James Brazeau. He was a member of the United States Navy from 1952 until 1958 on the ship USS Alt. He graduated from Moraine Valley Community College with a degree in preventative maintenance and was an Ace machinist at Signode Steel Strapping for 30 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and Methodist Men’s Club in Deland, FL. He enjoyed volunteering building sets at the Shoestring Theater in Lake Helen, FL. He also loved exploring light houses and most of all being with family. A gathering of friends will be held at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Homes in Deland on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 between the hours of 11 A.M. and 12 P.M. with a funeral service starting at 12 P.M. in the chapel of the home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 1625 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, Orange City, FL 32763.
