Gerry Medlin, 99, of DeLand, Fl., passed away at Blue Palm Health Care Center on Sep 23, 2023. She was born on August 15, 1924 in Orange County, FL, the daughter of the late Samuel S. Morrison and Frena B. Frye. Gerry grew up in the Orlando area. She graduated from The Woman's College of The University of North Carolina. While in college she met the love of her life, Gene W. Medlin. They were married on December 16, 1945. In 1958, she and her husband moved to DeLand, FL, where he was a mathematics and computer science professor at Stetson University. Gerry was active in the Women’s Club of DeLand, the West Volusia Council on Human Relations, and Evergreen Day School.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeLand. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years in 2000. She is survived by her five children, Barbara Johnston (Jack) of DeLand, Steven Medlin (Pat Keehley) of Las Vegas, NV, Richard Medlin (Donna) of DeLand, Sandra Warren of DeLand, and Karen Medlin (Brad Hobday) of DeLand, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
