Linda Avery Obituary

Linda Avery was a caring wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sadly and unexpectedly, Linda was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 29th, 2022 at the age of 71.

Linda was born to Peter and Eleanor Gundersen May 2nd, 1951 in Long Island, New York. As One of 6 children from Norwegian parents, she was among the 2nd Generation to be born in the US. Raised to embrace her roots, She lovingly taught her children to appreciate and always be proud of their Norwegian culture. True to her heritage, Linda was strong willed and determined never giving up and always pushing forward. She faced all obstacles in life with tenacity, strength and perseverance, all the while teaching her family about the important values of tolerance, respect, and equality. At Age 20, she married her first husband Paul Lashinsky with whom she spent 20 years and raised a son Erik, and daughters Kristen and Allisen. Though remaining friends and co-parents for life, they parted ways. She later met and married her current husband of 29 years Joseph Avery. They would remain in love for the rest of her life. Having already raised 3 adult children, Linda and Joe were later blessed with 2 additional children- daughter Lydia, and son Peter. Her children were always her pride and joy. A faithful woman of God, Linda was instrumental in leading her family to know Christ and enjoyed spending time with her church family praising her Lord and Savior. Though considered eccentric by some for thinking outside the box, she was always admired for following her heart. Her family came second only to God. From teaching good moral values or leading them to a Christian life, to trying to teach natural paths to health and wellness, in her own way, she was always looking for ways to help them through life. Her love for her family was the motivation behind it all. An avid researcher of functional medicine, she had a passion for learning and teaching how to naturally heal herself and others. She supported her passion with her love for gardening, growing many plants and herbs with health benefits in her own yard. She will be forever loved and greatly missed. She is survived by her husband Joe Avery, Daughters- Lydia Avery, Allisen DeLoach, and Kristen Curry, and Sons- Peter Avery, and Erik Lashinsky. as well as 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Liberty Independent Baptist Church at 1365 W. Plymouth Ave. Deland, FL 32720 on Friday July 8th , 2022. Viewing will start at 10:00 AM, with service starting at 11:00 AM.
