Rebecca J. Peterson

Born on December 16, 1979, Rebecca Jeanette Peterson, known to everyone as “Becky”, was born to Richard and Sandra Peterson. She was born in Daytona Beach at Halifax hospital and started overcoming obstacles the very day she entered the world. She was a poet, a song writer, encourager, and inspirational in her writing and speaking. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1996. She went on to earn her Associates Degree from Daytona Community College, and Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Central Florida and was very close to completing a Master of Social Work degree there as well. She volunteered at the library, sang in the choir at The Sanctuary Church, and gave back to the world in more ways to count. She was a serious lover of country music and was a loyal and devoted fan of whoever was the lucky musician of the time- including the Judds, Lionel Cartwright, and Terry Clark, and was able to meet them all. She could often be found wearing an Atlanta Braves or Florida Gator shirt and didn’t miss a chance to cheer on either team.  Becky was predeceased by her Dad, Richard Peterson, and leaves behind her Loving Mother, Sandra Peterson Chennault, her Step-Dad, Bob Chennault, her brother, Ricky Peterson, her niece, Marley Chennault, along with many, many family members & friends, including her Aunt Donna. Becky was a light that shined even through difficult times, and she will be missed forever. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30th from 6-8pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. The funeral service will be Friday, July 1st at 11am at City Sanctuary Church in DeLand. Burial will follow at Pierson United Methodist Cemetery. Allen-Summerhill Funeral Homes & Crematory in DeLand is in charge of arrangements.
