Thurman "Stump" Reynolds, a beloved husband, father, Papa, and friend, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 22, 2026 at his home in Deland, Florida. Born on August 9, 1951, in Fort Myers, Florida, Thurman lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.
After attending Deland High School, Stump answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of duty, discipline, and pride that he carried with him for the rest of his life. Following his honorable service, Stump channeled that same determination into building a career in the roofing industry. As the proud owner of C & R Roofing Enterprises, Inc., he built a company that stood the test of time for over fifty years, earning a reputation for quality, integrity, and reliability throughout the community. His expertise and commitment to his trade also led him to serve on the Volusia County Contractor Licensing and Construction Appeals Board from March 2014 to March 2018, where he contributed his knowledge to upholding industry standards.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stump was known for his infectious sense of humor. He loved to laugh and had a remarkable gift for making others laugh as well. Whether sharing stories with friends, spending a quiet morning on the water fishing, or heading out on a hunting trip, he had a way of bringing joy and warmth to every gathering. His presence could light up a room and those who knew him will forever carry the memory of his smile.
Stump was a longtime and devoted member of Stetson Baptist Church, where his faith in Jesus Christ served as the cornerstone of his life. His relationship with the Lord guided every decision he made and gave him strength, peace, and purpose throughout his years. He lived his faith not only in word but in deed, reflecting the love of Christ to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Reynolds; his daughters, Tanya Ramos (Tony) and Brittany Ritchey; and his son, Clayton Reynolds (Cole); Six grandchildren Ava, Amya, Alex, Cameron, Cheyanne, and Savanna. Each of them was a source of immense pride and joy in his life.
